Charli Ornett is a local Boulder artist, working with encaustic mixed medium since 2001. Her work is shown internationally and held in private collections. Her piece “Going is Knowing” is part of a body of work that she has been working with from 2014 to the present. Her source of inspiration stems from her passion for poetry, which embodies a grounding and transcendent feeling.
She states, “I’m fascinated with the tension between the definite and the amorphous, that place where a hard edge or line meets the soft and yielding. In both art and life, I think this border between land and sky, sleeping and waking, curiosity and certainty, is where we are most alive and can see most clearly.” Since Charli was young, she has been taken with the concept of molding and merging words with image.
She uses Theodore Roethke’s writing to captivate you with every title of her pieces. Charli takes us on a journey where each work of art reflects many layers and texture, each unfolding a tale of process, place, and form.
